What is VESPERA?
VESPERA makes low-iron glass display cases for figures and collectibles, handmade in Johannesburg by House of Vespera. A five-panel glass lid, its panels bonded with silicone, sits down into a groove in a matte black base. No frame. No acrylic.
When can I buy one?
First stock is planned for mid-November 2026. It is a plan, not a promise; we will say when the first cases are ready.
What sizes are there?
The Hero: inside 250 × 250 mm, about 340 mm clear height; outside 258 × 258 × 354 mm. The Slim and the Car come later; sizes to be confirmed. Larger pieces need made to measure.
What glass do you use?
Low-iron glass, sometimes called ultra-clear glass. It has far less of the green tint ordinary glass shows, so colours behind it read true and the edges look clear. The Hero uses 4 mm low-iron glass with polished edges.
Is the figure included?
No. The case only. Measure your figure, base and pose against the inside size. See choosing a case for 1:6 figures.
How much is the Hero?
The price is still being set. It will be shown before first stock is ready.
Do you deliver?
Yes, by courier to all of South Africa. Worldwide delivery may come later. You get a tracking link by email when your case leaves us.
Can I collect my case in Johannesburg?
No. We do not offer collection. Every case goes by courier.
How long does it take?
Once we are running: about 1 week for a case in stock, and about 2 to 3 weeks for made to measure.
How does made to measure work?
We quote first. You pay a deposit, and only then is the glass cut. See made to measure.
Does it keep dust out?
It helps. The lid sits down into a groove in the base, which helps keep dust out. The lid is not sealed to the base, so an occasional wipe inside is still a good idea.
Does the glass block UV light?
We make no claim of UV protection. Ordinary and low-iron glass let most UV-A through. Keep any case out of direct sunlight. See dust and sun.
How do I clean it?
A soft microfibre cloth, with glass cleaner sprayed onto the cloth, never onto the case.
What if it arrives broken?
The case is our responsibility until it reaches you. If the glass is cracked, chipped or broken, we replace it or refund you, at our cost.
Can I return it?
Yes. You may cancel an online order within 7 days after delivery, for any reason, and every case carries the six-month legal warranty against defects.
Glass or acrylic?
Glass resists scratches and draws less dust; acrylic is lighter and harder to break. VESPERA works only in glass. See glass or acrylic.
Is it a good gift for a collector?
It can be. There is no gift wrapping: the packaging is the presentation. The figure is not included, so check the size of the piece it will hold first.
